On the afternoon of April 14th, the opening ceremony of the Second “President’s Cup” National Games of Jiangsu Normal University and the awarding ceremony of “2020 Top Ten Athletes” and “Colleges with Sports Characteristics” of JSNU was held in Quanshan campus. Huang Junwei, vice president and director of the University Sports Committee, Meng Zhaoxue, deputy director of the University Sports Committee and minister of Publicity Department, and some members of the University Sports Committee attended the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Minister Meng Zhaoxue announced the award list of “2020 Top Ten Athletes” and “Colleges with Sports Characteristics” of Jiangsu Normal University. The participating leaders presented prizes to the winning athletes and the winning departments. Vice President Huang Junwei delivered a speech and announced the opening ceremony.
Vice President Huang Junwei pointed out in his speech that strengthening “physical education” has been an important content of national education policy and a very important part of school education. The quadrennial National Games and the annual track and field games have become an important part of campus culture. In recent years, JSNU has made great achievements in the development of sports activities by deeply carrying out sunshine sports for college students. The National Games will be held throughout the year with a variety of competitions, aiming to promote the normalization of national fitness competitions through the joint participation of all teachers, students and staff. Vice President Huang hoped that in an “open, fair and just” competition environment, all participants could fully display the spirit of indomitable struggle and courage to challenge, vigorously carrying forward the Olympic spirit, to present a gift to the 70th anniversary of the University and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
After the opening ceremony, the opening game of the Second “President’s Cup” National Games and the 14th “Green Cup” College 8-a-side Football Game was held in Jiangsu Normal University. Vice President Huang kicked off and watched the friendly match between the staff team and the university women’s football team.
