Collaborative Innovation Center for Language Ability, established in October, 2012, is mainly led by Jiangsu Normal University and coordinated by 9 universities or institutes including MOE Ministry of Education Institute of Applied Linguistics, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China Rehabilitation Research Center, the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Institute of Psychology CAS and Beijing Cikku Technology Ltd., Co.

“Meeting national demands, Being the First Class of the world, Abiding by Latest Regulations and Making Outstanding Contribution” is the motto of the center. Guiding by this motto, this center established 5 research platforms and 1 advanced institutes for language ability, which are: Brain Language Ability Center, Machine Language Ability Center, Center for Acquisition and Development of Language Ability, Center for Language Ability Promotion of People with Language Disability, Center for National Language Ability Promotion and Planning and Advanced Institute for Language Ability.

The Center owns 18 national and provincial advanced disciplines, 20 national or ministerial key laboratories and 11 top journals. By far, the center has owned 7 first grades of national level and formed a research team consisting of 12 academicians, 22 Chang Jiang scholars and about 140 experts from home and abroad.
