On the evening of December 27, 2023, the 2024 New Year’s Concert was held in Ma Ke Concert Hall. President of JSNU (Jiangsu Normal University), Zhou Ruguang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC JSNU Committee and Vice President, Zhang Yuqin, and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC JSNU Committee and head of the publicity department of JSNU, Meng Zhaoxue, attended the event. Directors of different departments and more than 400 teachers and students enjoyed the concert together, welcoming 2024.
Under the guidance of conductor Cui Fei, the JSNU Symphony Orchestra provided a visual and auditory feast. The New Year Concert began with Road of History-Eternal Silkroad, taking the audience on a journey across the Eurasian continent. The concert featured a variety of pieces, from Joaquín Rodrigo Vidre’s moving and heart-touching Concierto de Aranjuez to Johann Baptist Strauß’s lively and vibrant Thunder and Lightning Polka as well as At the Hunt. Other pieces included Franz Lehar’s Vilja Lied, which tells the love story between a hunter and the forest goddess Vilja from folklore, a jazz adaptation of Merry-go-round of life, Zha Xi and Zhuo Ma with Tibetan characteristics is composed by famous Chinese composer Wang Hesheng, Georges Bizet’s passionate Carmen Fantasy, and Leroy Anderson’s renowned The Typewriter, which is considered as one of the most humorous and cleverest ones. Each performance deeply moved the audience with solemn, warm, lively, or bright styles. The continuous applause and beautiful bouquets of flowers conveyed the audience’s love and their desires for art. Finally, the concert concluded perfectly with Bugler’s Holiday.
