On the afternoon of September 27, JSNU held an event with the 16th batch of Science and Technology Town Mayor’s Group in Jiangsu Province. Before the event, a meeting was held in Room 300, Analysis and Testing Center. President Zhou Ruguang, Vice President Du Zengji, Dong Xiaochen, delegates from the Science and Technology Town Mayor’s Group of Suqian, Xuzhou, and Huai’an, the Science and Technology Bureau of Sihong County of Suqian, and Gulou District of Xuzhou, the President’s Office of JSNU, the Institute of Science and Technology, the Graduate School, the Department of State-owned Assets, the External Cooperation Office, the National Science Park Management Committee, the Technology Transfer Center and related leaders of Schools attended the meeting, which was presided by Vice President Du Zengji.
Zhou Ruguang, on behalf of JSNU, extended a warm welcome to the Group at the meeting. He introduced the history of JSNU, achievements in scientific research and government-industry-university-research cooperation in detail. He said that he hopes this event become an opportunity to further explore new ideas for multi-dimensional, multi-level and multi-form cooperation between universities and the government as well as universities and enterprises. In this way, a new round of development in northern Jiangsu would be innovated and empowered.
Zhuang Wei, the head of Suqian Membrane Materials Industry Science and Technology Town Mayor’s Group, Deputy Director of the Domestic Cooperation Department of the membrane materials industry, introduced the development of the industry, cooperation needs, and the latest policy on cooperation between NICE (Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute) and universities. In recent years, Suqian has pushed ahead in-depth industry-university-research-use cooperation and tackled key technological problems, mastering cutting-edge membrane material technology, making the membrane materials industry characteristic and advantageous. Zhuang Wei said that Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute focuses on the key links of science and technology transformation, opening up a new pattern for university talents cultivation and industry-university-research cooperation. Relying on the platform of the Science and Technology Town Mayor’s Group and guided by the joint training of graduate students, the institute builds an innovation system for industrial development and creates a new industrial ecology. He hoped to continue to promote cooperation and exchanges between universities and enterprises, promote the integration of science, industry and education, and provide strong technological and talent support for the transformation and upgrading of related industries in northern Jiangsu.
The director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Sihong County, Suqian, the head of Xuzhou Digital Economy Industry Science and Technology Town Mayor’s Group, the director of the project department of Xuzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the deputy head of the Science and Technology Town Mayor’s Group of Huai’an Economic and Technological Development Zone introduced the development situation of the industries and talent policy in the region. All of them hoped to take the event as an opportunity to continuously increase cooperation, build a broader exchange platform, and promote high-quality development of university-local government cooperation. Leaders of relevant departments introduced the development of graduate education, scientific and technological work and technology transfer of JSNU respectively, and directors of colleges gave brief introduction of talent cultivation, scientific research directions, scientific research results and future cooperation. They had an in-depth discussion on the direction of technical exchanges and agreed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between institutes and JSNU. And the cooperation would promote the transfer and transformation of scientific research results to provide talent and technological support for high-quality industrial development in northern Jiangsu.
Dong Xiaochen summarized the meeting in the end. He pointed out that the meeting is of great significance to JSNU, local government and enterprises in integrating superior resources, improving working mechanisms, attracting and cultivating talents, promoting industry-university-research cooperation, and transforming technological achievements. He hoped that JSNU and the Group can jointly build platforms, cultivate talents, transform scientific and technological achievements etc. And both of them would be the helpers of high-quality economic and social development of northern Jiangsu.
