On the afternoon of September 26th, the opening ceremony for 2023 international students at Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU) was held in Jingwen Lecture Hall. Zhou Ruguang, President of JSNU as well as chiefs of relevant functional departments and Schools, and all faculty members of the International College, attended the ceremony. More than 200 international students from 35 countries including the United States of America, Morocco, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam etc. participated the ceremony.
Zhou Ruguang delivered a speech at the ceremony, expressing warm welcome and congratulations to the 2023 international students on behalf of all teachers. He introduced the development and characteristics of JSNU. President Zhou hoped that students can adapt to the new environment as soon as possible. He encouraged international students to devote themselves to learning and become talents needed by the times, be friendly and helpful, become ambassadors of friendship with great love, promote mutual understanding among the people and mutual learning among civilizations.
Duan Na, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, and VARABYOU SIARHEI, a representative of foreign teachers, delivered speeches respectively, hoping that students can set clear goals, make learning plans, and cherish time. At the same time, they hoped that students can actively participate in both on and off campus activities in their spare time, deepen their understanding of Chines culture, promote mutual learning among different cultures, and strive to become ambassadors of friendship between China and foreign countries.
FOO BI LIN, a 2022 postgraduate from Malaysia, who is a representative of the Chinese Government's Scholarship, reviewed his learning and growth experience at JSNU in his speech. He encouraged new students to value learning opportunities, embrace colorful campus life, and use various platforms to show and enrich themselves. JABNI NOUHAILA from Morocco gave a speech as a new student representative.. She gave the reasons for choosing China and JSNU. She was longing for being able to gather with outstanding young students from various countries at JSNU and embark on a new journey together.
At the ceremony, Zhou Ruguang and relevant functional department leaders presented awards to student representatives of Chinese Government Scholarships, International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarships, and JSNU Discipline Scholarships, and presented Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to representatives of 2023 international students. After the ceremony, all teachers and students took a group photo in front of Jingwen Library.
2023 international students has added new strength to the international development. The International College will further upgrade the education and management of international students, promote the cultivation of international talents and the construction of high-level universities.
