Recently, the finals of the 14th Chinese Classics Reading Competition of Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU) were held on Yunlong Campus.
The Competition is one of the traditional cultural activities of JSNU. After years of development, it has formed chanting characteristics in various forms and attracted a large number of language enthusiasts in JSNU.
The Competition consists of a non-professional group and a professional group. There were 67 works recommended by 15 schools and societies. After strict selection by the competition organizing committee and judging experts, a total of 23 works entered the finals, including 11 in the professional group and 12 in the non-professional group. And the 23 contestants who advanced to the finals would display in turn according to the order of drawing lots before the competition. According to the scoring criteria, the judges selected a total of 13 best reading awards in the two groups. 8 from the professional one and 5 from the non-professional groups. In addition, 10 individual awards were announced.
Both the contestants’ quality and the performance of selected works have greatly improved this time. The excellent performance of non-professional enthusiasts won bursts of applause from the audience, while different kinds of winners of provincial and national competitions at all levels gathered in the professional group made the competition a tough one.
In the competition, the volunteers from the School of linguistic Sciences and Arts gave a wonderful interpretation of the story of the new generation of storytellers in Jinggangshan in the form of both spoken and sign language, which deeply moved the audience and drew warm applause.
The Competition interprets the connotation of Chinese excellent culture, demonstrates the charm of Chinese language and culture, carries forward the Chinese spirit, and enhances the cultural confidence of the participants. Also, it makes the students revisit the classics and integrate Chinese language into the cultural genes of the Chinese nation, forge a strong sense of a community for the Chinese nation, and grow into excellent disseminators and firm inheritors of Chinese traditional culture to embrace the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
