On the afternoon of June 9th, “i-Star” Smart Campus Construction Seminar was held at Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU). Cen Hong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC JSNU Committee, and Song Shibin, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of China Higher Education Information Academy attended the seminar and delivered speeches. More than 130 participants attended the conference, including colleagues from over 50 universities’ information departments, as well as leaders and representatives from relevant departments of JSNU.
The first part of the seminar was “i-Star” Anniversary Celebration. Cen Hong delivered a speech and extended a warm welcome to the leaders and experts. After that she introduced the development and achievements of “i-Star”. She emphasized that on the new starting point, JSNU would continue to implement the policy of promoting educational digitalization to strengthen exchanges with other universities, deepen university-industry cooperation, and actively advance the construction of a smart campus demonstration university with digital transformation as a highlight. In this way, wisdom and efforts would also be contributed to high-level university construction.
Song Shibin offered the seminar his sincere congratulations. He put forward three perspectives on the future development of the smart campus. Firstly, he emphasized that the digital transformation of education is not a subversion of educational informatization but makes demands on management and top-level architecture. Secondly, he highlighted that the foundation of smart campus initiatives is to serve the needs of the majority of teachers and students. Lastly, he stressed the significance of systems and data quality in smart campus construction. About realizing digital transformation, he pointed out that it is data applications that stimulate the motive power of data governance and improve data quality.
A teacher from the Information Construction and Management Division shared the development of “i-Star”. Representatives from relevant departments, teachers, and students of JSNU shared their experiences as “i-Star” users, the convenience it brought to their work and study, and their expectations for its future.
In the second part, speakers delivered thematic reports on the development of smart campuses in higher education institutions.
The seminar provided a communication platform for information technology construction in universities across the province. Experts conducted in-depth discussions on various topics, including the construction and application of mobile service platforms for smart campuses, strengthening educational infrastructure, and supporting digital transformation of universities.
