To promote communication and cooperation among Sino-Russian cooperation universities, and accelerate intension and higher-quality development, the Alliance of Sino-Russian Cooperation Universities, led by Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU), convened the Development Seminar on Sino-Russian Cooperation in Education and its fourth meeting from May 12th to 15th at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU).
The conference was officially opened on May 13th. SMBU’s Rector, Li Hezhang, and the First Vice-Rector, Ivanchenko Sergei, Vice President of JSNU and Chairman of the Alliance of Sino-Russian Cooperation Universities Dong Xiaochen, Deputy Director of International Office of Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Zhou Guoping, as well as more than 200 experts, scholars, teachers and students related to Sino-Russian cooperation in higher education from 42 universities, attended the opening ceremony.
Dong Xiaochen delivered a speech on behalf of the Alliance of Sino-Russian Cooperation Universities. He said the conference combined the wisdom and was significant to further exchange ideas and promote the high-quality development of Sino-Russian cooperation in higher education. As the leader of the alliance, JSNU will further strengthen communication and coordination with all the other institutions, share development experience, explore development ways and form a cooperation mechanism, to build a new pattern to adapt to the high-quality development of higher education in the new era.
At the opening ceremony, members of the executive board of the Alliance jointly announced the establishment of the “Student Management Committee of the Alliance of Sino-Russian Cooperation Universities”.
After that, leaders and experts from 14 universities, including Beijing University of Technology, SMBU, Heilongjiang University and North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, made special reports on the quality of education, talent cultivation, discipline construction, development and characteristics of Sino-Russian cooperation in higher education in the seminar. The second Russian speech contest was held simultaneously during the seminar. 67 contestants from 22 universities participated in it.
On May 14th, the meeting came to a successful close. During the meeting, the alliance flag was handed over to the next rotating university and the award ceremony of the second Russian speech contest was held, where JSNU received three first prizes and one second prize thanks to the excellent performance of four students. Dong Xiaochen delivered a closing speech, hoping that the Alliance will continue to uphold the working philosophy of “openness, integration, sharing and excellence”, promote reform, innovation, the quality and level of Sino-Russian cooperation in higher education.
