On Oct. 20th-21st, the 56th track and field sports meeting of JSNU was successfully held. 1225 athletes from 60 representative teams fiercely competing in 45 sports. “Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together”, the Olympic spirit was fully interpreted by athletes’ tenacity and high-level competitions.
On the morning of Oct. 20th, we held the opening ceremony with all the leaders and the sports committee members present. At the ceremony, matrix of energetic athletes marched in the field, showing the vigour of young people in the new era and the high morale of students of Jiangsu Normal University. Also, students from School of Music and School of Physical Education performed ethnic unity dance, cheerleading, Chinese traditional martial arts etc. for the upcoming 70th anniversary of JSNU. After the show, the solemn flag-raising ceremony was carried out with representatives of athletes and referees making oaths respectively to ensure the completion of the games based on fair and serious attitude and equitable sports spirit in competitions and judgement.
President Zhou Ruguang delivered a speech at the ceremony to extend his warm congratulations to the successful opening of the sports meeting and cordial greetings to all athletes, coaches, referees and staff members. JSNU has always attached importance to sports work, actively carrying out sun sports to improve the physical and psychological health of students and teachers. The university has made great achievements in high-level sports, physical education and mass sports. We hope that all of us in JSNU will carry forward Olympic spirit of “higher, faster, stronger”, firm belief, solidarity and hard work to embrace the 70th anniversary and create a new chapter together in the construction of a high-level university.
Fang Zhong, Secretary of CPC JSNU Committee, announced the opening of the 56th track and field sports meeting. All kinds of events were in great order. During the two-day athletics meet, our students and teachers actively participated and competed for the first place with their speed and passion, showing the energy of youth and demonstrating the vigorous image of JSNU with style, capability and friendship.
On the afternoon of Oct. 21st, the sports meeting came to a successful end following the completion of all events, with related school leaders and all members of the sports committee attending. The referee announced the results of competitions and held the award ceremony. CW Chu College won the first place in the total team score of both men’s and women’s student groups and School of Physics and Electronic Engineering won the first place in the total team score of men’s and women’s teacher groups, taking the “mobile trophy” respectively. Other eight schools, including School of Public Administration and Sociology, School of Foreign Studies, School of Mathematics and Statistics, Business School, CW Chu College, School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, School of Life Sciences and School of Education Sciences (School of Teacher Education), were awarded the Spiritual Civilization Award.
Wang Xiaosan, director of the sports committee and vice president of JSNU, delivered a closing speech, expressing warm congratulations to units and athletes who achieved outstanding results and thanks to all athletes, coaches, referees and staff members for their hard work during the meeting. He said that the annual track and field sports meeting is not only an arena for sports skills and physical fitness, but a review of ideological cultivation and comprehensive qualities and even an exhibition of team spirit and collective image. Sports represent youth, health and vitality, and we hope that teachers and students will actively participate in sports and fitness, with high morale, new attitude and full of enthusiasm to constantly create a new landscape in the development of JSNU and work together for a better future.
