Several days ago, Professor Pan Tianbo from School of Media, Film and Television of JSNU published a new book The Chinese Craftsmanship and Its Global Influences, which was successfully selected for the fifth “China Publishing Group’s Best Books” in 2022, and was interviewed by Jiefang Daily.
The List aims to introduce mainstream contemporary works which are thoughtful, academic, humanistic and knowledgeable to the public. In this way, people’s needs for spiritual culture are satisfied and spiritual strength are enhanced. And the List contributes to the development a strong socialist culture. The book is a collection of ten representative objects in the history of Chinese craftsmen, such as the fan, the mill, the compass, the blower, the plough, the wheel, the stirrup, the firearm, the smoking utensil and the lacquerware. Consequently, it narrates the vivid history of their global dissemination, interaction and mutual learning in their unique times displays the global influences of Chinese craftsmanship.
