The Games of Jiangsu Province which are held every four years is a sport event with the largest scale, most sports, highest level and fiercest competition around the province. It is not only a platform for universities in Jiangsu province to communicate, but also a comprehensive test of group work in universities. There were 17 sports and 22 disciplines in this year’s Provincial Games. Totally, 63 universities participated in the games. 21 coaches and 200 athletes from JSNU signed up for 13 sports and 17 disciplines. The sport delegation of JSNU only took part in 9 disciplines but ultimately bagged 10 gold medals, 16 silver and 16 bronze medals. Particularly, 1 athlete smashing a record in Provincial Games.
The 20th Games has been the most difficult one over the years as the original planned one-year-long sport had to be completed within two months. However, thanks to the love for sports and a huge responsibility to fight for the glory of JSNU, coaches and athletes trained assiduously and prepared actively for more than a year. They defying the searing heat of the sun and strong rivals, overcoming obstacles with tenacity, unity, dedication and hard work.
The excellent results could not have been achieved without the strong support of JSNU leadership and the full support of our functional departments and other colleges in our university. In summer vacation, vice president Wang Xiaosan personally visited the athletes at various venues to cheer the participants on and provide constructional advice for the training.
The “Excellent Organization Award” is set by the University Group of the 20th Games of Jiangsu Province to award the top 20 universities in terms of the total score (total group score) which consists of “total team score”, “total participation score” and “total score of college students physical health work implementation”. The first prize of the “Outstanding Contribution Award” would be awarded to the universities that won the “President’s Cup” at the 14th National Student Sports Games.
