On October 16, Vice President Dong Xiaochen was invited to attend the Deakin University Cooperation and Exchange Symposium organized by the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange (CCIPE). He held in-depth discussions with a delegation led by Iain Martin, Vice-Chancellor and President of Deakin University (DKU). Officials from Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU)’s Office of International Affairs and relevant colleges also attended.
At the symposium, Dong Xiaochen introduced JSNU and its internationalization efforts. Specifically, he noted that JSNU began its engagement with DKU from the 1980s, and both sides have nurtured invaluable trust and achieved fruitful cooperation over the years. He emphasized that the current phase presents a pivotal opportunity to elevate the bilateral relationship, adding that JSNU will fully align with DKU’s development needs to advance in-depth collaboration.
Iain Martin carefully reviewed the friendship album, which was a collection documenting the two universities’ cooperationand presented by JSNU. He expressed profound gratitude and delivered a response, stating that the over-30-year partnership with JSNU is an integral part of DKU’s history, and the educational cooperation carries great significance. He added that the meeting has injected new momentum into the bilateral ties, and he hoped the two universities will join hands with each other to yield more fruits of friendship at an early date.
Dong Xiaochen also participated in the 50th anniversary celebration of DKU, where he exchanged views with representatives from DKU and Australian education authorities.
