The 2021 Annual Conference of BRICS Universities League (BRICS UL) was held online on December 20th. The conference was hosted by the secretariat of the BRICS UL and organized by the BRICS Research and Development Center of Fudan University. More than 50 officials from the Ministries of Education of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and leaders of the BRICS universities gathered together online to discuss the development of cooperation and exchanges in higher education. Responsible persons of Cooperation and Communication Office of JSNU attended the conference.
During the conference, Fang Jun, Deputy Director General of the International Department of the Ministry of Education, delivered a welcome speech. He noted that the BRICS Universities League has played a positive role in promoting high-quality development of education. And Chen Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University, reported the work of the BRICS UL from 2019 to 2021.
The membership applications of Jiangsu Normal University, Harbin Engineering University, Yanshan University and Yunnan University were discussed at the conference. After hearing the application report of JSNU, all BRICS universities unanimously agreed to accept JSNU as a full member of the league.
The BRICS Universities League was officially established in Beijing, China on October 18th, 2015. It serves as a platform for bilateral and multilateral exchanges among BRICS universities. There are more than 50 universities in the BRICS UL, including Beijing Normal University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Zhejiang University, East China Normal University and so on.
Joining the BRICS UL will further enhance the cooperation and partnership between JSNU and BRICS countries in the field of higher education, which will play a significant role in improving the level of international exchanges and cooperation of JSNU.
