At the gracious invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, women’s footballers of Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU) recently departed for Dhaka to partake in Bangladesh-China Women’s Football Friendly Match 2025, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations. On September 20 local time, under the floodlights of the Bangabandhu National Stadium, the Chinese University Students’ Combined Team—featuring five key players from JSNU, namely Liang Xinyi, Zhang Zhijia, Yan Yuchen, Cheng Zitong, and Jiang Ziyi—delivered tactical precision and sportsmanship. The match unfolded as a thrilling showcase, with all three goals netted by JSNU students, culminating in a resounding 3-0 victory over Bangladesh U-17 Women’s Team.
The match formed a pivotal component of the anniversary celebrations. In his address, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen underscored that sports diplomacy has served as a unique catalyst for fostering people-to-people understanding, describing the match as “a symphony of athletics” and “a bridge of amity” that transcends the pitch.
Long after the final whistle, applause reverberated through the stadium, a testament to both the footballing prowess of JSNU students and the soft power of sports in diplomatic and cultural engagement. As Sino-Bangladeshi exchanges in physical education deepen, JSNU remains committed to nurturing a new generation of elite athletes and cultural ambassadors.
