A series of important progress has been achieved by Dr. Yang Yang from the School of Chemistry & Materials Science, Jiangsu Normal University. As correspondent author, Dr. Yang publishes hispapers on the flagship academic journal Angewandte Chemie International Edition(IF =12.257) and Journal of the American Chemical Society, arousing muchattention among academia from home and abroad.

High-nuclearity metal clusters are gaining intensive attention owing to their appealing structures and fascinating properties. The structure elucidation of large clusters is of primary significance for understanding the formation mechanism and the structure-property relationship but indeed a tough case. Structure achievements of coin-metal chalcogenide clusters containing interstitial E2-(E = S, Se, Te) ions are fruitful. In contrast, as the same main group element, O2-ion is very difficult to be incorporated into coin-metal cluster.

Dr. Yang Yang and his academic team cooperated with Professor Sun Di’s academic team from Shandong University and research fellows from Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, etc., constructing a cluster comprises of 74 metal ions (M = Ag(I) or Cu(I)), and 12interstitial oxo ions (O2-), which induced the assembly of silver-copper. This representsthe first example of a new category of highnuclearity coin-metal clusters.

The result has been published on AngewandteChemie International Edition, (DOI:10.1002/anie.201906538)recently, with JSNU as the first correspondent unit.

Inaddition, Dr. Yang Yang cooperated with Professor Wang Quanming and his academic team from Tsinghua University, reporting the synthesis and crystal structure determination of two novel chiral gold nanoclusters. The result has been published on Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2019, 141, 2384-2390, with JSNU as the joint correspondent unit.

Dr.Yang Yang, graduated from Xiamen University, is the excellent doctor that introduced in JSNU in 2016. His research direction is the synthesis, structureand performance of multinuclear coin-metal clusters.Since his entrance into the JSNU, Dr. Yang has published many papers on international academic journals like J. Am. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Inorg. Chem., Cryst.Growth Des. as the first author or correspondent author.
