Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, Vice President of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman came to JSNU for cooperation

Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, Vice President of UTAR and his delegation came to JSNU on January, 12th to discuss on the issue that how to jointly hold the new branch of Mencius Institute. The meeting was held in Room 1306, Jingyuan Building. Mr. Hua Guihong, president of JSNU, Mrs. Cen Hong, Deputy Secretary of CPC JSNU Committee and leaders from Publicity Department of CPC JSNU Committee of, International Office, School of Chinese Language and Literature, School of History Culture and Tourism attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Hua Guihong expressed his warm welcome to Dr. Ewe Hong Tat and his delegation; then he briefed on JSNU and International Office. He pointed out that JSNU, especially the International Office, had forged ahead in all kinds of fields during the Twelfth Five-year Plan, therefore, he had the confidence in both universities to build a Mencius Institute at UTAR. He also wished to further promote the comprehensive cooperation between the two universities.

Dr. Ewe Hong Tat expressed his gratitude for the welcome he received at JSNU and briefed on UTAR. He said that JSNU was admirable for its rapid development and great contribution to the inheritance and enrichment of traditional Chinese culture. As a university well-known in Malaysia and Asia, UTAR is mainly for those ethnic Chinese. He hoped that UTAR could enhance the cooperation with JSNU, particularly by jointly building a branch of Mencius Institute, to diffuse Confucian culture and Mencius culture to students, people or organizations that are interested in traditional Chinese culture so as to promote the understanding of traditional Chinese culture among people in Malaysia.

At the meeting, participants watched Glories and Dreams a movie about JSNU, and held talks on the clauses in the Memorandum of Understanding over Mencius Institute between JSNU and UTAR.
