JSNU delegation led by Vice President Miao Zhengke visited Australian universities

JSNU Vice President Miao Zhengke and our delegation went to Deakin University and the Queensland University of Technology in Australia during February 24 and 27 for exchange.

JSNU delegation went to Deakin University in Melbourne on February 24 and 25 and conducted discussion with Vice President John Molony and representatives from International Office. Vice President Molony extended his warm welcome to Vice President Miao and introduced DU’ s situation, international cooperation and predominant majors. Vice President Miao delivered his gratitude to Vice President Molony and briefed on the situation of JSNU and Australian Studies Center. He wished that two sides could continue to push forward doctoral joint-cultivation projects and conduct cooperation among the fields of Education, Linguistics and Big Data Engineer. JSNU would like to provide scholarships for DU students who seek postgraduate study at JSNU. Vice President Miao invited Vice President Molony to come to JSNU in future. The latter showed great interest in joint-cultivation of postgraduate students, teachers’ education and JSNU’s Australian Studies Center, and said that he would visit JSNU when he would come to China on the latter half of the year. At that time, he would promote credit transfer between two sides and make long-term agreements in terms of joint-cultivation, teachers’ education and scientific research. While in Melbourne, Vice President Miao visited the University of Melbourne and RMIT University.

On February 26, JSNU delegation visited the Confucius Institute of Queensland University of Technology. When meeting Dean Antoine Barnaart, Vice President Miao sent his congratulation to the 10th anniversary of the institute. It had achieved a lot of results under the joint support from two sides and had a bright future. The two sides sent teachers and students to each side, playing important roles in boosting the process of globalization. Dean Barnaart spoke highly of the work of JSNU teachers and students. Over the past ten years, the Confucius Institute has established 10 classes, providing chances for local people to learn Chinese culture and language, improving the linguistic ability of local Chinese language teachers and making more and more Australians understand China. Vice President Miao expressed that JSNU would continue to support QUT, organize Australia Rectors Delegation well and send excellent volunteers to provide service.

On February 27, he met Vice President Scott Sheppard and signed memorandum of agreement. Later, Vice President Sheppard took the delegation for a library tour to inspect the large interactive screen of Ancient Extinct Life and Astrophysics for community. JSNU delegation completed all tasks successfully, consolidating friendships and meeting new cooperation partner. This visit reached consensus, signed cooperative agreements, and expanded JSNU international cooperation.
