From 29th to 30th, October, JSNU successfully held the 49th track and field sports meeting. It observed the grand opening ceremony of sports meeting and the launching ceremony of the 7th “University Anniversary Day”, 8:00 am, 29th , in the ground track field of Quanshan campus. Chairman of the University Council Xu Fangming, deputy Chairman Cen Hong, vice president of the University Qian Jin, Huang Junwei, Cai Guochun and all members of the university sports committee attended the ceremony.
Mr. Xu Fangming addressed the opening ceremony and congratulated the successful holding of the track and field sports meeting as well as the university anniversary day, and meanwhile expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the teaching staff and students who work hard and devote themselves to the development of JSNU. Xu said, “developing sports and enhancing people’s health” is the basic policy and tasks of our country’s sports work. JSNU has been attaching great importance to mass sports work, and actively promoting “Sunshine Sports” project to improve students’ health condition. We have harvested great achievements by developing characteristic sports events, especially in sports science research, PE curriculum teaching, etc. In addition, such sports events as women’ s footfall, Chinese Five-animal Gymnastics (a set of exercises by imitating the action and manner of five animals, including tiger, deer, bear, monkey and crane), lion dance, free combat, taekwondo, etc. have achieved numerous awards and honors both in domestic and foreign competitions. In the fulfillment of “twelfth five-year plan” and the approaching of the “thirteenth five-year plan”, I hope all staff and students would take the opportunity of this sports meeting and the university anniversary day to hold together, enhance cohesion and forge ahead to advance courageously toward the building of a high-level university.
On the opening ceremony, all Schools’ square array went through the rostrum in turn, and presented wonderful and distinctive sports culture performances. After that, the representatives of athletes and judges made their pledges respectively, then the university’s leaders and members of the university sports committee present awarded medals to the winning unit for the first Chinese Five-animal Gymnastics competition.
During the two-days competition, all athletes accepted the goal of “faster, higher, stronger” and strived with fortitude and courageousness to manifest their own style and skills during the competition. And the sports meeting successfully concluded on the afternoon, 30th October. At the closing ceremony 4:40 pm, the meeting’s Superior Judge Gong Dongchao read out the competition results, vice president Liu Guangdeng announced the winning units of the High Morality Prize, vice president Cai Guochun announced the winning units of the Sports Culture Exhibition Prize, secretary of the university’s Discipline Inspection Commission Wang Feng declared the winning units of itinerary Cup, and finally leaders seated on the rostrum presented the prizes to the winning units.
Vice president Huang Junwei expressed his congratulations in the closing address to the wining units and athletes, and also his thanks to the judges, coaches and staff who have made contributions to the sports meeting. Huang said, in the sports meeting, there were 1500 athletes from 30 units competing in 42 sports events, and 8 units obtained the High Morality Prize, 19 units achieved the Sports Culture Exhibition Prize, which fully demonstrated JSNU’s staff and students spiritual outlook and moral quality of fortitude, courageousness and vigorousness, health, harmony as well as endeavor. He hopes all teachers and students could devote their full enthusiasm, high morale and fighting spirit manifested on the sports meeting into university’s development to create JSNU a rosy prospect.
According to the results, Kewen College swept the first place by total points ofstudents men’s team, women’s team and student organizations as well as the first place of teaching staff. The High Morality Prize was given to 8 units, including the School of Fine Arts, School of Linguistic Sciences, Kewen College, School of Physics and Electronic Engineering, School of Education Science, Sino-Russian School, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Law and Politics. 19 units achieved the Sports Culture Exhibition Prize, 6 of them obtained the first prize, i.e., Kewen College, School of Physics and Electronic Engineering, School of Physical Education, School of Music, School of Fine Arts as well as School of Historical Culture and Tourism; 7 won the second prize, namely, School of Education Science, School of Law and Politics, School of Urban and Environmental Sciences, School of Chinese Language and Literature, School of Language Science, JSNU Laboratory School and International College; 6 achieved the third prize, including Sino-Russian School, School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Media, Film and Television, School of Life Sciences, School of Foreign Studies as well as School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
