Representatives of JSNU Participated in the Opening Ceremony of “Jiangsu-Hong Kong and Macao College Students’ Chinese Classics Reading Exchange Competition”

Recently, at the invitation of Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Macau, representatives of School of Linguistic Sciences and Arts of Jiangsu Normal University, visited Macao for exchange. More than 50 teachers and students of JSNU, led by the dean of School of Linguistic Sciences and Arts, jointly held the classic poetry reading performance and cultural exchange discussion activities such as “Jiangsu-Hong Kong and Macao College Students’ Chinese Classics Reading Exchange Competition”.

The opening ceremony of “Jiangsu-Hong Kong and Macao College Students’ Chinese Classics Reading Exchange Competition” and the classic poetry reading performance were held in the hall of Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Macau, jointly sponsored by School of Linguistic Sciences and Arts of Jiangsu Normal University, and Faculty of Humanities of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Professor Xu Jie, acting dean of Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Macau, Professor Li Defeng, vice dean, leaders of School of Linguistic Sciences and Arts and the Youth League Committee of JSNU, and some teachers and students of University of Macau participated in the activity. Professor Li Ping, dean of Faculty of Humanities, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, attended the event online. Ms. Yang Ruiying, president of Macao Language Art Association and member of Reading and Singing Professional Committee of China Poetry Society, and Mr. Mu Jinchun, council chairman of Macao Language Art Association were specially invited.

At the opening ceremony, Prof. Xu Jie, Prof. Li Ping and Prof. Yang Yiming delivered speeches on behalf of the organizers of the event from Macau, Hong Kong and Jiangsu. During the performance, students from School of Linguistic Sciences and Arts of JSNU and Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Macau presented 25 classic poems. As special guests, Ms. Yang Ruiying and Mr. Mu Jinchun also gave wonderful performances. After the event, the teachers and students of University of Macau spoke highly of the professional level and on-site display of JSNU, and looked forward to further deepening the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

“Jiangsu, Hong Kong and Macao College Students’ Chinese Classics Reading Exchange Competition” activities supported by the Ministry of Education are held to inherit and carry forward Chinese excellent traditional culture. The activities are to lead the students to read the ancient classics, improve the quality of the language and culture, cultivate patriotism and sense of community of the Chinese nation and meanwhile promote the exchanges and cooperation between teachers and students in Jiangsu, Hong Kong, and Macau. After the opening ceremony, the offline final will be held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province in the autumn of 2021 after the work collection and online preliminary evaluation.
