Materials Science of JSNU Has Entered the Top 1% of Global Basic Science Indicators

According to the latest data of Clarivate’s Basic Science Indicators Database in May 2021, materials science of JSNU has entered the top 1% of Global Basic Science Indicators for the first time, becoming the third discipline after chemistry and engineering to enter the top 1% of Global Basic Science Indicators. With the support of School of Physics and Electronic Engineering, School of Chemistry and Material Science and other departments, the discipline of materials science has continuously improved its research competitiveness and academic influence through scientific layout and systematic promotion, and its potential value has increased from 43% in November 2018 to 109% at present.

For a long time, JSNU has been attaching great importance to basic and original scientific research, and guiding teachers to publish representative works in high-quality journals. In addition to materials science, which is ranked in the top 1% of Global Basic Science Indicators, the discipline of mathematics and computer science also has significant growth potential, which has increased to more than 94%.

Global Basic Science Indicators is a basic analysis and evaluation tool to measure the performance of scientific research and track the development trend of science, which was launched by Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) in 2001, a world-famous academic information publishing institution. It is a metro logical analysis database based on more than 10 million literature records of more than12,000 journals collected by Web of Science (SCIE/SSCI) owned by Clarivate. It is currently an important indicator tool commonly used to evaluate the international academic level and influence of universities, academic institutions and countries/regions.
