JSNU InternationalOffice—On the afternoon of September 24, 2015, Huang Junwei, the vice-presidentof JSNU, gave a lecture to students and teachers of Confucius Institute at MiamiDade College on the topic “Campus Culture and Management in ChineseUniversities” Mr. Huang was invited by the Confucius Institute; and his lecturewas specially arranged in an art gallery of the school,where a Chinese Ink Painting Exhibition was being held. Xujun (Jim) Yu, the directorof CI of the MDC side chaired the lecture; and Liu Xinglin, the director of theJSNU side, did the interpretation. Students of CI at Miami Dade College,student members of JSNU's Art Troupe touring in the US, and some locals alsoattended this lecture.
In thelecture, Mr. Huang explained the campus culture Chinese universities and itsmanagement. Mr. Huang then expounded traditional Chinese values and the socialistcore values in the new period as well as the importance of cultural values toChinese universities and even to the whole Chinese society. Mr. Huang commentedthat the campus culture of Chinese universities had close links with traditionalChinese culture, which had become a key to the understanding of differencesbetween Chinese and American campus cultures.
In thelecture, students of MDC and Huang discussed the cultural differences of campuslife in the two countries and the underlying reasons. Moreover, students of MDCwere also informed of the detailed information on the types of exchangeprograms, learning content, scholarships and accommodation etc.
Beforeand after the lecture, president Huang and Doctor Alexander in MDC discussedissues on exchange programs. He also enjoyed the contemporary Chinese inkpainting works and explored relevant topics with students and teachers of bothcountries and.
