Xuzhou,April 25 (Guangming Daily)--As ‘the 12th World Reading Day’ approaches,students of Jiangsu Normal University take the initiative to uphold thetradition of ‘Advocating Literacy and Education’ and participate in readingactivities themed with ‘Building a Scholarly Campus’ in response to the government’scalls on the nation for reading.
Theschool library has arranged special bookshelves for 1,500 classic books recommendedand selected by experts, covering the fields of literature, history, economy,philosophy, ideological and political education. These books attract manyteachers and students.
TheYoung Volunteers Association of the university in cooperation with XuzhouDisabled Federation has launched ‘Listen to my sound and assist you to read’for those visually impaired. In the activity, the school’s YVA and the schoolradio station have taken four months jointly recruiting volunteers to “readingone book for the blind” and recording the audio CD attached in books. Many studentsof the university participted enthusiastically in this activity, so that thevisually impaired can read the books through their voices.
TheCampus Newspaper of the school has set special column, inviting professors totalk about their experience of reading and learning, which gives enlightment toyoung teachers and students.
Otherstudent societies have also launch various reading activities on the campus.
