  Duringthe summer vocation of 2014, Zhao Yang from Excellect Talents CultivationCollege of JSNU headed for Bauru, Sao Paulo in Brazil, volunteering in theteaching activity organized by the largest organization of young students--- AIESEC.Zhao received widespread attention from differetn social sectors in China andwas reproted by CCTV, Xinhua Daily, Pengcheng Daily, ifeng.com, Sohu.com, www.12371.cn,and other media.

  Zhao,a junior majoring in Chinese Literature joined the AIESEC in March and in May signedan agreement with a volunteers team in Brazil. On June 21, he arrived in Bauruof Brazil, starting his two-months voluntary teaching.

  Zhao served as the assistant for the only English teacherin the local school. Apart from that role, he gave lessons on Chinese culture.In his lessons, he showed his Brazilian students traditional Chinese paper-cut,calligraphy, silk work, foldable Chinese fan and other Chinese objects. Heplayed the video A bite of China for localstudents and taught local children to practice the Five-animal gymnastics,etc..Those activiteis had aroused the interest of the local students’ inChinese culture.

  Zhao waswelcomed by the local residents. “When they entertain guests with theirparticular Latin-American enthusiasm, it strikes me that there are plenty ofbeauty in the world that is still out of our reach.” Zhao said. Zhao especiallycherished the surprise and touch the voluntary teaching had brought to him andhe would continue raising money for children in Brazilian slum with his ownefforts, trying to provide stationery and sports facilities for the localorphanage and the primary school.
