Taught Kam-Tai Languages, Field Method, Sino-Tibetan Languages to graduate students and English courses to undergraduates; part-time editor for Journal of Linguistic Sciences, one of the top academic journal in mainland China; conducted various funded  linguistic research projects in linguistics as PIs and publish academic papers and books.

Served as sole graduate assistant for the Department of Linguistics, with responsibility for facilitating communication between students and faculty and providing knowledgeable administrative support to the five-member faculty. Provided instruction to up to 16 students per semester, primarily teaching courses in applied linguistics, social linguistics, and Chinese language and Asian cultures. Assisted professors in classroom teaching and tutoring.
