开设背景
随着“一带一路”倡议的国际影响力日益增强，越来越多的外国学生选择来华留学。江苏师范大学是全国首批“有资格接收外国留学生的高校”之一，相继与美国、英国、澳大利亚、俄罗斯等国的50余所高校建立了校际友好合作关系。近年来，学校紧密结合国家国际化人才培养的战略目标，不断推进国际化办学战略，致力于培养具有国际视野、国际教育背景、跨文化沟通能力突出的国际型专业人才。2018年在校留学生已经超过1000人，分别来自40多个国家，其中主要是来自一带一路沿线国家的学历生，包括机械、电气、软件、市场营销、国贸五个专业的本科生和国际贸易学、管理科学与工程研究生。作为文化素质教育类课程，《汉学家与中国》用英文向留学生传播中国文化，讲述中国故事，梳理中国文化精髓，展示中国的灿烂文化和当代社会的丰富内涵。
Necessity of the Program
With the growing influence of the Belt and Road initiative, more and more international students choose to study in China. Jiangsu Normal University as one of the first universities with qualification to have foreign students study in China has built productive relations with more than 50 universities all over the world, including the United States, Great Britain, Australia and Russia. In recent years, to meet the demands of national strategy, JSNU has been committed to cultivating international talents with excellent cross-cultural communication skills and has made great progress in international education. In 2018, the number of students coming to JSNU for study range from more than 40 countries, most of which are along the Belt and Road, amounting to 1,000 or so students. Both undergraduates majoring in mechanics, electrics, software, marketing, and international trade and postgraduates majoring in international trade and management science and engineering will take this course. As a cultural quality educational course, it uses English language to teach Chinese culture to foreign students, to tell Chinese stories, to comb out the essence of Chinese culture, to show China’s splendid culture and to express the rich connotation of contemporary society.
培养定位与目标
《汉学家与中国》是面向我校全英文授课专业本科和研究生留学生的必修课，其先修课程为“中国概况”。学生在结束“中国概况”课程的学习后，对中国地理、历史、思想、文化、习俗、科技、政治制度等方面已有了基本而系统的了解。在此基础上，本课程通过专题形式，以外国汉学家为切入点，分四大模块向留学生有选择地介绍中国哲学、中国语言文学、中国历史、中国艺术和中国科技等方面的文化知识，帮助留学生扩大文化知识面，准确而深刻地认识中国文化特征及其独特价值，激发留学生以汉学家为榜样，对中国文化的评价和创新等问题进行深入思考，正确认识中国国情，使留学生成为“知华友华亲华爱华”的国际人力资源。同时，通过本课程的学习，可以提高留学生对文化差异的敏感性、宽容性和处理文化差异的灵活性，为进一步研习专业、认识和研究中国文化，提高跨文化交际能力打下基础。
Course Objectives
This is a compulsory course for undergraduates and postgraduates of all English medium in our school. The students have prerequisite basic and systematic understanding of China’s geography, history, ideology, culture, customs, science and technology, and political system before this course. On that basis, this course adopts a special form and use foreign sinologists as an entry point to provide students with Chinese culture in four modules of Chinese philosophy, Chinese language and literature, Chinese history and Chinese art, to help them expand their cultural vision, and thus instruct them to understand Chinese cultural characteristics and their unique values in an accurate and deep way. Furthermore, this course aims to inspire international students to follow the example of sinologists to think deeply about the evaluation and innovation of Chinese culture, to critically understand China's national conditions, and make international students become someone of “enhancing mutual understanding between China and other countries”. At the same time, this course will increase students’ sensitivity and tolerance to cultural differences and their flexibility in dealing with cultural differences, which will lay a foundation for expanding their further study on Chinese culture and improving their intercultural communication skills.
