On the afternoon of Oct 24th, the opening ceremony for freshmen of 2013 was held by Outstanding Talents Developing Department in academic hall. President Ren Ping, Deputy Secretary and Vice President Wang Chao, Vice President Fang Zhong, heads and all the students and teaching staff of Outstanding Talents Developing Department along with representatives from other schools and colleges of JSNU attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Ms. Ouyang Wenzhen, Director of Outstanding Talents Developing Department.
Vice president Fang zhong made the speech; he expressed his warm congratulations to freshmen of 2013 and cordial greetings to the whole staff of Outstanding Talents Developing Department. Mr. Fang affirmed the national exemplary role that played by Outstanding Talents Developing Department in fields of outstanding teacher training and achievements in fields of cultivating students’ consciousness of scientific research and spirit of innovation, as well as the vision of international communication. He hoped that all the freshmen can develop their cultural knowledge along with ideal and faith, develop their moral along with skills, and develop their all-around abilities along with their personalities.
On behalf of senior students, freshmen, and teachers, student Zhao Yang, Han Zhuojia and Professor Zhang Shumei (School of Chinese Language & Literature) made their speeches respectively.
President Ren Ping summarized these speeches, and looked back the history of founding Outstanding Talents Developing Department. He pointed out that “high starting”, “lofty goal” and “cultivation of innovation” were the three main features of Outstanding Talents Developing Department. President Ren Ping put forward five advices for these freshmen: first, they should do their best to achieve their dreams and maintain the enthusiasm of exploring the science; second, they should study earnestly, make the talent training plan, and be good at summing up; third, they should be persistent and intelligent to their dreams; fourth, they should increase the comprehension which was formed during the process of studying, thinking and practice; fifth, they should strengthen the communication and cooperation with others.
