On the 70th anniversary of our university, 2022 Development Conference of Law School was held in Ma Ke Concert Hall on the afternoon of Nov. 5th. Main leaders from Xuzhou municipal government and related functional departments, chiefs of the courts and procuratorates of Xuzhou as well as subordinate counties and districts, and colleagues from the legal profession of Xuzhou were invited to the conference. Secretary of CPC JSNU Committee, Fang Zhong, president Zhou Ruguang, deputy secretary of CPC JSNU Committee and vice president Liu Guangdeng, chiefs of related functional departments of our university and schools, and representatives of alumni, teachers and students of Law School attended the meeting.
The conference began with the documentary “Sailing”, demonstrating the development and achievements of Law School.
Fang Zhong addressed at the conference, and he extended warm welcome to the leaders and guests. At last, he expressed thanks to people from all walks of life who support the development of Law School. He noted that Law School serves as an important force of JSNU to promote the establishment of a high-level comprehensive university focusing on teaching and research. The discipline of law is a significant part of the comprehensive discipline construction of JSNU. The School of Law, as the youngest school in JSNU, is vigorous and developing rapidly. Secretary Fang hoped that the school will further focus on the development direction of the discipline and fully mobilize the enthusiasm of teachers in scientific researches. Also, the school should adhere to the guidance of the construction of law disciplines, achieve new breakthroughs in teaching and scientific researches. Accordingly, talent cultivation would strive for further improvement and more extensive and in-depth social services would be provided. Furthermore, the brand effect of “Jiangsu Normal University Legal Aid Center” would be deepened.
At the conference, Zhou Ruguang awarded contracts to the representatives of part-time professors and part-time master’s tutors. On behalf of JSNU, Liu Guangdeng signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chen Hui, president of Xuzhou Lawyers Association. At the same time, a donation agreement was signed between the JSNU education development foundation and the legal colleagues and alumni representatives who donated to the school development fund. The blessing video from alumnus Dai Weiguo, who made a one-time donation of 300,000 yuan to Law School, was also played. The representatives of alumni, faculty and student spoke at the meeting and sent their wishes for the school respectively.
On behalf of the Political and Law Commission of Xuzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, Liu Guangmin expressed his warm congratulations to the conference and fully affirmed the achievements of Law School for its all-round integration into local development, government-industry-university-research cooperation, joint introduction and training of talents, and cultural inheritance and promotion. He pointed out that the school should continue to harness its strengths. By combining with Xuzhou’s development goals and realities, it could systematically plan and actively participate in the construction of a regional central city. Furthermore, strengthening cooperation with Xuzhou’s political and legal agencies at all levels, coordinating important problems in the process of legal education and practice, teaching, research and social services are also necessary.
After the conference, Liu Jiangong, president of Xuzhou Intermediate People’s Court, gave a speech entitled The Cultivation of Judicial Practice Talents.
