On the morning of October 26th, the gallery of Jiangsu Normal University (JSNU) history was completed and opened. The opening ceremony was held in West Teaching Building 12, Quanshan Campus. Zheng Lei, the alumnus of JSNU who graduated in 1982 from Chinese Department and the chairman of Wuxi Jingxuan Technology Co., Ltd, attended the event. The leaders of JSNU, Fang Zhong, Zhou Rugang, Liu Guangdeng, Wang Xiaosan, Cai Guochun, Miao Zhengke, Chen Peng, Du Zengji, Dong Xiaochen, the leading group for the construction of the gallery, the chiefs of related departments of the university, representatives of alumni as well as representatives of teachers and students participated the event. Qian Jin, the vice president of JSNU hosted the opening ceremony.
Zheng Lei delivered a speech on behalf of the alumni. “Keep the history firmly in mind is the only way to future development”, he said. In the past 70 years, JSNU has nurtured countless pillars of society for our country, including many teachers who have worked selflessly. Generations of alumni have forged and interpreted the campus spirit of “Integrity, Innovation, Principle and Practice” with passing the torch. The spirit of the campus is worthy of our memory and respect. And we believe that the gallery will become the spiritual home of the alumni of JSNU.
Fang Zhong, Secretary of CPC JSNU Committee, delivered a speech at the ceremony. He pointed out that the beauty of the university lies in the inheritance and promotion of spiritual culture, the greatness of the university lies in masters and famous teachers and the importance of the university lies in the glorious history accumulated over the years. The history of JSNU is a reflection of the development of the university, an important carrier of the cultural heritage, and a concentrated embodiment of the campus spirit. Last but not least, it is an essential part of a mature university. The opening of the gallery of Jiangsu Normal University history is not only one of the important activities of the 70th anniversary, but also a milestone in the cultural construction of JSNU. As the materialisation of JSNU’s spirit, philosophy and campus culture, an important carrier of cultural memory, heritage and innovation, the gallery vividly displays the extraordinary history of JSNU and JSNUers, the contributions and achievements made by JSNU in different historical periods for the cause of education. It is believed that the gallery will become an important landmark of campus culture as well as an inexhaustible source for teachers, students and staff to understand the history of JSNU.
At the end of the ceremony, four leaders, Fang Zhong, Zhou Rugang, Liu Guangdeng and Zheng Lei, jointly unveiled the plaque for gallery of Jiangsu Normal University history, and the participants visited the gallery.
