As the sixth National Science and Technology Workers Day (May 30) approaching, the deputy mayor of Xuzhou, Gong Weifang, visited outstanding young scientists and technologists in our university on May 28, along with chair of Xuzhou Association for Science and Technology, Du Haipeng and vice chair of the Association, Zhang Zhongdong. Our university’s president, Zhou Ruguang and related comrades of JSNU Institute of Science and Technologyescorted visitors during the event while Professor Shi Feng in School of Chemistry and Materials Science attended the event representing ouruniversity’s excellent young scientists and technologists.
On behalf of Xuzhou government, Gong Weifang had acordial conversation with Prof. Shi Feng. Through the conversation, Gong learned about Shi’s efforts in scientific and technological research, and application of research findings in detail. Gong also gave congratulations and expressed appreciation to Shi for her significant contribution in scientific research. Meanwhile, she extended festive greetings to all scientists and technologists at JSNU, wishing that all professionals continue to take innovative steps in science and technology, make full use of their expertise and accelerate the application of research findings, thus making greater contribution to the socio-economic development of Xuzhou city with great erenergy and morale.
Zhou Ruguang expounded on our university’s development in disciplines, platform, talent team, scientific research, scientific and technological innovation, and serving local needs. Zhou noted that our university has attached great importance to scientific research and serving the local development by science and technology for many years. While upholding two strategies of innovation-driven development and talent-powered university, we have been keeping up reforms in scientific and technological management and assessment, scientific and technological services for local socio-economic development, and talent introduction and cultivation. In addition, we work to refine basic scientific research, scientific and technological innovation, and institutional construction for local development, so as to contribute more to the high-quality development of Xuzhou.
