Brief Introduction of the Speaker: Dr. Zhixiong Shen is an assistant professor in the Department of Marine Science at Coastal Carolina University, USA. He graduated with a B.Sc.degree from Peking University in 2002 and a Ph.D. degree from the University ofLiverpool in 2007. He worked at Tulane University from 2007-2014. Research interests of Dr. Shen include Earth surface processes, environmental change, sea-level change, Quaternary geochronology, and fluvial and coastal geology. Dr. Shen has authored and co-authored 29 peer-reviewed articles published invarious journals, including Geological Society of America Bulletin, Geology, Journal of Geophysical Research-Solid Earth, Nature, and Science Advances.Currently, Dr. Shen has multiple research projects that are funded by the US National Science Foundation, and he is actively looking for graduate students interested in coastal geology and Earth surface processes.
