On the morning of September 16th, the International Symposium on Biodiversity and Comparative Genomics was held in JSNU. More than 200 experts and scholars from home and abroad attended the conference both online and offline. Professor Zhou Ruguang, President of JSNU and Director of School Academic Committee, and Professor Zhou Zhonghe, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and American National Academy of Sciences, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Leaders from relevant functional departments of JSNU, key researchers of School of Life Sciences and representatives of postgraduate students attended the meeting.
President Zhou Ruguang extended warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all the experts. President Zhou said that in recent years, relying on the discipline platform of Jiangsu Province, JSNU has been approved as key provincial laboratory of Phylogenetic and Comparative Genomics, and outstanding provincial scientific and technological innovation team of “Phylogenetic and Comparative Genomics”. The International Symposium on Biodiversity and Comparative Genomics is an important practical exploration in the core and key areas of biotechnology. President Zhou hoped that the participating teachers and students could have in-depth exchanges and close cooperation with well-known scholars at home and abroad, and promote the healthy development of the biology discipline of the university.
Professor Zhou Zhonghe, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, said it is of great significance to hold the symposium. Prof. Zhou expressed his great pleasure to be appointed as a member of Academic Committee of School of Life Sciences, JSNU. He hoped that this conference would further strengthen domestic and international cooperation in the field of biodiversity and comparative genomics, and comprehensively promote the rapid development of life science research.
At the opening ceremony, President Zhou Ruguang awarded appointment letters to the members of the first Academic Committee of School of Life Sciences and took photos with the representatives attending the meeting. The conference will also invite 9 experts and scholars from home and abroad to give academic reports both online and offline, and carry out professional exchanges with all experts and scholars.
